CARE: A Role-Playing Experience on Climate Action and Environmental Awareness

This highly interactive workshop will immerse participants in the CARE (Climate Action Roleplay Experience) game, an educational RPG co-developed within an Erasmus+ project. Designed for groups of 10-30 players, the game simulates the delicate balance between nature and human activity, challenging participants to manage natural resources, collaborate with others, and strategize to protect their environment.
Participants will take on roles of forest inhabitants—plants, fungi, mammals, and more—who must find ways to preserve their ecosystem while dealing with expanding human settlements. Through a structured series of six decision-making rounds, teams will negotiate, allocate resources, and experience the real-world trade-offs between environmental sustainability and human consumption.
After the gameplay, a guided debriefing session will encourage participants to reflect on their experiences, drawing connections between their in-game decisions and real-world environmental challenges. This discussion will focus on ecosystem services, climate change mitigation, and the role of education in fostering pro-environmental behaviors.
Join us for this engaging and thought-provoking experience, where learning through play meets climate action education!
